GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The X9 Epic Switch is an essential function in any rugged system. The X9 Switch provides an astounding level of performance and bandwidth that is not even found in rackmount switches, yet it fits in the palm of a hand! It is fully sealed, rugged and battlefield-ready with no compromise to performance.

The X9 Epic Switch provides an incredible four 100Gb Ethernet ports, at a full data rate, as well as thirty two 10G Base-Tx Ethernet ports via rugged mil-circular connectors or RJ-45 for lab use or industrial applications.

The heart of the switch is a Broadcom Ultra Low Latency, high bandwidth enterprise-class switch with up to 880Gbps [WO1] core switching bandwidth. This Layer 2/3 deployed switch architecture and control software is well supported via GMS’s quad core Atom processor with 32GB of DRAM and 1TB of SSD. The host processor is responsible for configuring the switch and provides a browser user interface for control and programming. To facilitate the user interface a service port is provided with video, dual USB [WO2] and a 1G Base-Tx Ethernet port for remote access.

All the connectors for power, 100Gb Ethernet, Service and 10Gb Ethernet ports are fully rugged, waterproof (IP67) and have covers to prevent damage when no cables are connected.

The X9 Epic Switch opens up rugged applications which have never before been possible due to size restrictions, speed or power requirements. X9 Switches may be cascaded[WO3]  for unmatched performance at any size or cost. This amount of performance is typically only found in commercial rack-mount solutions for over twice the price.
